OTR-Lies From the Tablecloth
OTR Lies From the Tablecloth isn’t a blog about advice. It’s a place to tell the truth about how people actually work.
Most of what shapes us happens long before we ever get a vote. Families, teachers, rooms we grew up in, the rules we learned without anyone saying them out loud. We carry all of that into adulthood and call it “personality,” but it’s really just the wiring we survived with.
I’m not here to fix anybody. I’m not here to inspire anybody. I’m here to name the things most people feel but don’t have language for. The things that sit under the tablecloth — the lies we were handed, the ones we believed, and the ones we still repeat without noticing.
If you’ve listened to OTR, you already know the rhythm: no performance, no noise, no pretending. Just the real stuff people live with when the room gets quiet.
This blog is the same. Short pieces, clean lines, no overthinking. I’m writing what I’ve learned from a lifetime of watching people, working with them, raising them, loving them, and sometimes losing them. Not as an expert — as someone who pays attention.
If something here helps you name your own wiring, good. If it just gives you a place to breathe for a minute, that’s enough.
Welcome to the table.
